The FM-QW Infrared Transmission Experimental Instrument is a didactic apparatus designed for investigating infrared communication technologies. It consists of infrared emitting diodes and photoelectric receivers to demonstrate signal modulation/demodulation processes. This equipment enables fundamental experiments including DC signal frequency modulation, digital data transmission, and optoelectronic characteristic measurements.
Utilizing gallium arsenide semiconductor components, the system emits infrared radiation at 750-1000nm wavelength when forward-biased. The transmitter module supports both amplitude-shift keying (ASK) and frequency-shift keying (FSK) modulation schemes. Students can observe waveform variations using oscilloscopes and analyze how transmission distance affects signal integrity through quantitative measurements of current-voltage relationships.
